Case Against Former Senior Police Officer Boaz Guttman Closed Due to Lack of Criminal Guilt

Guttman was arrested in 2012 on suspicion of distributing classified information taken from court's computer system.

The case against retired police chief superintendent Boaz Guttman over his alleged involvement in leaked legal documents has been closed. The State Prosecutor’s Office closed the case against Guttman because it said he had committed no crime.

Guttman, who founded the Israel Police's cybercrime unit, was arrested in August 2012 along with blogger Moshe Halevy, better known as Halemo, on suspicion of distributing classified information taken from the court's online computer system.

The case, which was widely reported, was closed after an 18-month investigation. Guttman retired from the police in 2001. In 1988, he was the head of the police team that investigated Israeli hacker Ehud Tenenbaum.

Guttman was informed that the case against him was being closed in December 2015.
